Here's the part most people never get taught. The body is the verdict. The wicks are the fights. A long lower wick says sellers pushed price down and buyers slammed it right back up. They tried, they failed, and the candle wrote it down. A big solid body with tiny wicks says one side ran the whole block, no argument.

That's genuinely the entire skill:

Now the opinion part, and I'll own it: you do not need patterns. Head and shoulders, cup and handle, the flag zoo. By the time you've argued with yourself about whether that's really a pennant, the move is over. Patterns overcomplicate exactly the moment that needs to be simple. At 3:25 with 35 minutes left, the question is only: who's winning, and is anyone getting rejected? The last three candles answer that. A pattern library doesn't, and the desk's own bot doesn't use a single one.
